Hey Guys,
So my final ranks/trial results are:
Adv Eng: 24/67 (87% Trial)
Ext 1 6/10 (60% Trial)
Business 10/67 (76% Trial)
General Maths 3/85 (65% Trial - 80%+ in all other assessments)
Modern History 2/27 (83% Trial)
Legal Studies: 3/45 (83% Trial)

Is it possible to get an ATAR of 91 or even more? Thanks! :D

C'mon guys no need to be like that to Bacon, the person just wants to tell his own opinions. I know at times it isn't the answer you really want to hear (as in a proper answer), but still... give him a break.

But depending on your previous school rank, we can provide you with a more 'accurate' estimate. However, just purely based on these ranks you will be floating around 87-90.

It is an indicator.

For example, top ranked students in James Ruse (ranked 1) will presumably do better than students in a school ranked 100.

Ergo, we use this to predict the likelihood of you obtain certain marks.

I will give you a better example. The 1st ranked student in Jame Ruse will likely do better than a student ranked first in a school ranked 100. Therefore we would assume that that Jame Ruse student will do better overall.

(I am only using Jame Ruse as an example as it is consistently first place)

However, it is only an indicator. The ranks are previous cohorts performances. So nothing will dictate your cohorts ability.

doesnt the board of studies moderate your mark according to your school rank as well as individual rank?

No.

They moderate according to your school cohorts performance. It is completely different. Last years cohort will have no affect on your current years performance.

School ranks are based of the amount of bands 6's a school receives. However 2011 HSC School ranks are only based of English and Mathematics Band 6's. So this has somewhat distorted true ranks

When the BOS moderates marks, they look at your cohorts overall results, averages, gaps etc. So, your school rank has no affect on your ATAR, however your cohorts performance does (unless you are ranked first internally)
