I hope you’re doing well. I’m planning to apply for Year 11 at Normanhurst Boys High School and was wondering if you could let me know what’s included in the entrance test and like the topics. Also what I should study for each section like whether for math do I study the entire year 10 Cambridge math textbook, and some tips for the English section. Also what reports should I be aiming for and how many extra curricular activities should I have, and just out of curiosity what are they expecting from the new applicants.

I'm planning on going to the same school, I'm not in accelerated although I've done most of yr 11 advanced and taken a few yearly papers on thsc, scoring pretty well, this thread is kinda old and theres only like a week and a half till the exam but if you haven't already you should probably do some hsc paper 1 questions which give a passage to analyse and module C past questions for extended response, you should probably do a lot of maths because you're probably going against accelerated kids who've done most of year 11 already, giving them a big advantage. btw do yk how long the test is? Because it seems like they're probably going to be like 2 hrs each or something to fit a whole extended response and short answer section.

straight out telling someone to do hsc english papers in yr 10 is so messed up and unrealistic

thing is we're going against like people who've done accelerated maths, likely disadvantaging us quite a lot in that portion. Doing really high level english (just the first question of paper 1) is probably one of the only ways to realistically even it out.
from what ive heard from people who have done the test as well as the admin office, it's just a math test with the whole of year 10 topic, and english is just a short answer and extended response. Your js overthinking it brosky
I mean I kinda already taught myself most of yr 11 advanced maths out of panic lol and I've gotten good at short answers I think. Do you know if the extended response can be discursive? because like it's a relatively new sort of structure that was only introduced to the hsc like 6 yrs ago. it might just be creative or persuasive but idk?

really?, what did u think u did bad on, i felt that the writing was not that hard but i couldnt finish the last 2 questions of maths
English wasn’t a problem, but I skipped half of math cuz of time and I didn’t know it

yeah it was stuff from the whole year but i dont believe there was much year 11. There was a question from my tution that was exactly the same as in the test lol
