Roll Call for all those who are trying to transfer into USyd/UNSW Law - 2015

It's looking like the predicted drastic change in the intake didn't materialise! Well done to all who were successful, and commiserations to those who didn't. Hard work never goes unrewarded and so if you were left disappointed, don't despair!

Does that mean UAC received your results a while back, milano7? Judging from the other transfer students on the site, they all seemed to be worried that UAC didn't have their results till this week. Anyhow, well done on receiving the offer! To the rest of you, thank you for the great response...

Did you receive the offer via UAC or did Sydney contact you directly, milano7?

Roll Call for all those who are trying to transfer into USyd/UNSW Law - 2015

To those worried about their UAC application status not reading as complete, hear this. Friend in the year above looking to transfer contacted UAC and was told that most universities will be submitting final assessment results to UAC later in the week/next week, and is considered usual protocol...

resourceater, whilst it is entirely possible the universities are looking to matriculate more students, I doubt that this is the case. I don't think either university till date has been operating at excess capacity and seeing as both Law schools haven't undergone any further expansion projects...

I'd be careful with that wording, RivalryofTroll. What RishBonjour99 said about his mate I think is more indicative of how the level of competition for transfer places at both universities will change each year - something that is only natural. In his mate's year it appears as if there was...

Roll Call for all those who are trying to transfer into USyd/UNSW Law - 2015

Roughly, this will open up the door for 200 more direct school leavers and a few more spots for early/special admissions cases. Naturally not all will apply, however I think that it is fair to say that given the popularity of the course, a sizeable proportion will. Referring to what I said...

Roll Call for all those who are trying to transfer into USyd/UNSW Law - 2015

How do people think the NRSL benchmark will be affected by the lower ATAR cut-off at Sydney (and likely UNSW)? I see this decision as a movement toward increasing the number of enrollments from direct school leavers which will likely reduce the number of transfer spots. This is because I don't...

Killerb47, which course did you study in your first year?

Sydney unlike UNSW, hasn't made an explicit pledge to consider internal transfers more favourably than those from other institutions. This seems to be consistent with the experiences of a number of external transfers on this site, and so there probably is no need to worry.

jaydizzlegear, in your case they won't consider your ATAR as your tertiary results are obviously the stronger out of the two. Special consideration will definitely work in your favour, however the extent to which they do, no one besides the universities themselves could tell you!

It'd be really helpful for future years to see how the lower ATAR cut-off will impact the NRSL benchmark. This is because it would provide an indication of whether Sydney (and UNSW if it follows suit) are reducing transfer spots or increasing the size of the cohort. So 2015ers, please post!

Great work RivalryofTroll! To calculate the NRSL Rank, you take your ATAR and the selection rank equivalent of your GPA which in your case is 98.5 and average the two, giving you 98.925. Actually finished the HSC in 2014. Was wanting to assess the impact of the new revised cut-off on the...
