Yep, but remember: a) you can have a UAI above the cut-off and not get an offer even with vacancies b) if there are no vacancies you are unlikely to get an offer but it does occasionally happen! :)

I mentioned in another thread on this topic that uni's do set minimum standards.... But oh well, yes, you are right they do set a minimum level of capability for a course, which you only ever see if the course has vacancies. But you can't blame them if you can't even meet that cut-off when...

The university's do not "set" cut-offs! At least it's definitely not supposed to happen. The process works whereby the university says "we have 3000 places this year for B Arts & Sciences". Lets say only 2500 people apply. Then they are all given places, and the lowest UAI out of those...

I heard you can do approximately 1/3rd arts in any degree when I enquired... So there you go :) cakes is right :p

Well, I have just been accepted into this course. :D Was wondering who else is doing it and also if anyone knows how big the canditure is. I never did find out how many places there were..... Lots of fun to look forward to! :o :uhhuh:

I am guessing it could be because people change their preferences after getting into their say, 2nd preference. They then put their 3rd preference as their first preference, in the hope that they can have two offers and then make a choice. So basically, people are trying to get lots of...
