My name is Ben Lorschy and I have developed an online resource called EconTools, drawing on my experience as a professional economist, former editor of a leading Year 12 HSC Economics textbook, and Band 6 graduate (see link below).

It includes two powerful tools designed to help students prepare high-quality Band 6 responses through structured, efficient study:

1. Dashboard:
A visual dashboard featuring statistics organised by syllabus topic. It includes the most recent and easy-to-understand data series to strengthen your essays and short responses. The live dashboard updates key macroeconomic indicators from the ABS and RBA, so you can stay current without the need for extra searching. It also includes data for all major case study countries to support research across the syllabus.

2. Essay Builder:
A database of thousands of statistics, examples, and graphs, all tagged by syllabus topic. The Essay Builder uses an AI-powered matcher to fetch the most relevant statistics for your argument. It follows the PEEL structure to help you write strong, well-organised paragraphs in response to past exam questions. You can export your notes in a format that’s clear and easy to revise from. A built-in statistics tracker shows you which stats appear most frequently in your answers, helping you prioritise what to memorise.

The platform includes a free trial and a free monthly newsletter that delivers recent economic trends and research in a clear, practical format. I have uploaded a previous example to show you what you can get if you sign up (form on the website linked above). Each edition explains how new data could be used to answer past HSC questions, making it a great way to stay ahead as the exam approaches.

Staying up to date with economic trends is one of the most effective ways to demonstrate deeper understanding and engagement in your responses. These tools are designed to support you in doing just that.

Best of luck with your preparation for the 2025 HSC Economics exam!

Thanks for your feedback - we actuall have implemented a $10/month subscription, but sorry to hear you feel the pricing doesn’t reflect the value. Did you get a chance to explore the free trial? It’s designed to help you assess whether the resource is right for you.

This tool brings together thousands of carefully selected statistics, research insights, and visual aids — all curated and explained by a working economist and former HSC textbook editor. Students gain access to:
- A dashboard that links statistics to every syllabus point, including all three major case study countries
- A live tracker of key macroeconomic trends in Australia
- Monthly newsletters that break down new data and show how to apply it to exam-style questions
- A full bank of past HSC essay questions with annotated tips on how to break down the key verbs and structure strong responses
- An AI-powered essay builder that helps students structure notes and match their arguments to relevant, curated statistics — with explanations on how to apply each one effectively in an HSC context

Unlike generic tools like ChatGPT, the statistics in this resource are manually curated from hours of research, calculated from reliable sources, and interpreted with context. That means students aren’t just getting raw information - they’re saving time and learning how to turn that information into high-quality essay content. Our aim is to make that easier and more effective for students who want to perform at their best. The goal isn’t just to provide information, but to give students a clear edge in how they understand, structure, and apply it in exams.

We genuinely believe the value reflects this - but we appreciate your feedback and are always looking to improve. If you have any features you would like to see added to this resource please reach out!
