i got asked to 'teach' these poeple how a computer works, like how to use MS Word, send emails, surf the web..and im not sure how much this sort of job should be payed per hour. He would like me to work only casual for like 3 hours every now and then..so how much should i charge to be fair?

you got a good point inasero, however i live far away from UNSW so i cant leave to go home between lectures, so i must write all my notes, homework and study inbetween lectures...So basically i write some notes during lecture, do some research/homework right after, and thats it, then i go out...

um when i went to the open day recently at UNSW the 1 lecturer told me that it only "credit, distinction.." really matters, if u got these marks in ADV maths class or normal maths class is of no significance.... i dont know now, but he made me feel like there is no scaling in uni. But now...

i agree it should be $100 more, but using dells "cusomise and buy" option to alter specifications of the laptop, they dont charge more for having 1x256 instead of 2x128...

im in a similar position as you, and im really looking to get a DELL as i hear they have great keyboard things (meaning very quiet typing), as for the price i guess its ok. 1 thing i would change is instead of "DIMM Memory 256MB (2x128) DDR Memory PC2100 SDRAM " make sure its only 1x256 stick...

i would say u must get HSC marks around ~80s, my friend had similar subjects and got around mid 70s for each and ended up with high 60s UAI, if he got only 5 more for each subject he would have gotten ~80. are u sure you cant do eng ADV i know so many people who are killing themselves for...

Ok im not the best in eng by any measure but i always killed the listening tasks because i already had a list of techniques in my head and was listening to certain sentences where the technique im looking for is present in. hence techniques Sibilance: you can always find this...anything...

The Individual and Society, Exam mark 41/50 Assesment 39/50 HSC mark 40/50 i think i did fairly well for someone who wrote 11.5 pages for the essay and ~7 for the creative part.

unless the laptop actually comes with a 802.11b compatible card, il definatly get that Avaya from unsw, cheapest card i found was way >$100. hopefully i will get into that double degree (elec/comp science), but either way 10c/MB is still cheap for surfing just not for games. thanks alot guys

does anyone know what kind of network do you guys have at unsw, like if i buy a laptop would i be able to connect to the network and use unsw's resources as well as the internet? if so would i need some special wireless net cards such as 802.11b/g, or will simple 10/100 cards do?

im in ermington (midpoint between west ryde and parramatta) and im thinking of an alternative to train, so either a Bus to city and again bus to nsw, or River Cat to circular quey and a bus to nsw. i leaning towards river cat as it has fully comfy seats and fresh air by the river..
