    Accounting Yr 1 Question~~

More generally, if the expenditure provides future economic benefits (in this case, DVD burning capability) then it should be capitalised. If not, it should be expensed in the current period (merely repair/maintenance). Difference: timing of expense. If it is capitalised it will be written...

Accounting Yr 1 Question- Cash basis vs Accrual Basis

I think its safe to ignore what turtleface wrote. I agree with SSaint. Here is a hint: accrual accounting IS preferred, so why not for SMALL businesses?

    Enrolment 2006 for current students

Don't worry, you still can enroll for the coming semester. Just send an e-mail to the SIO and they'll tell you what to do. You need to enrol in-person, around mid-Feburary.

    Double major definition

Units 2XXX and above are senior units. Sorry, yes, a third major is possible. However, some majors cannot be chosen due to CP rules/ pre-requisites and that seniors units only count once.

    Double major definition

A major requires 4 senior units (32 senior CP). If you do 2 more senior units (totalling 48 senior CP) in that area of study, you get a double major qualification (which is essentially an "upgraded" major, NOT two majors). If you want accounting and finance as your major, you complete at...

    syd u timetables

Your timetable is "set" by the timetabling unit. However, you have the option to block off up to two specific time periods if there are alternative free classes (ie. if there is no alternative lecture, or it is full, then blocking will not assign you to the other class). Your timetable will then...

    Question about USYD enrollment procedures

As I recall, you get to pick your units on the day you enrol. But you should be able to vary your enrolment (i.e. the units you have picked) through MyUni anytime up til the census date.

    Question about USYD enrollment procedures

No, it is not necessary. You implicitly select your major by the combination of units you do. That is, you will have your major on your testamur as long as you satisfy the requirements for the major, which usually is a particular combination of units as can be seen in the handbook.

The log-in passwords of MyUni and Blackboard are independent (but the username is the same). If you have never changed Blackboard's password (ie. a first timer), by default it should be your date of birth (not sure if it has changed however). If you are a continuing student the password will be...

Accounting Question - Discounting an Annuity.

These are finance questions (not accounting). For the first question, the second half of the equation is divided by 1.02^12 because you need to discount that part of the annuity to the beginning of the first year. If you do not, you are only working out its present value to the beginning of...

    Amortisation Schedules

Firstly, this is not an amortisation schedule. Its a Loan Repayment schedule. I assume the question is to construct a schedule given those details. Take note of the following: 1. The interest rate is quoted p.a. whereas the compounding periods are in months. Thus, you will need to divide the...

    General Journal

And in regards to the timing of posting to the General Ledger, the important issue is for the ledger accounts to not be materially misstated when accounting data is used (for example, to prepare financial statements). The regularity thus, I presume, would depend on an entity's circumstances.

    General Journal

General Journals are essentially the entry point for almost all accounting data. All transactions and accounting adjustments are "journalised" (in chronological order) into the General Journal. The "others" Kirsti referred to are Special Journals, used to journalise specific types of accounting...

Perhaps you can measure and compare the focal lengths produced by each lens (each having a different "fatness", by which I mean the curvature in which the incident light enters is more angled the fatter it is) after a parallel beam of light is shone across it. Each of the different lens would...

"Discuss", from the BoS Glossary of key words, is defined as "Identify issues and provide points for and/or against". Notice the "and/or": there is no requirement to provide both cases (although you should when both cases are substantial). Assuming most textbooks do not cover the against case...

    Ray Diagrams

The ray diagram is a tool to help you visualise the path of a ray (eg. light). The convention is to draw lines perpendicular to the ray's direction of travel, where the lines are spaced according to the ray's wavelength. A line with an arrow indicates the direction of travel. It can help you...
