which courses to choose for commerce/law - so confused!!!!

Um... your site is the handbook for 2007 with outdated rules. You dont have to do ECON1202 anymore. These are more relevant for 2011: http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/plans/2011/LAWSA14733.html http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2011/3502.html

More Help with Past HSC Probability Questions Needed!

@blackops : have you done permutations and combinations yet? Because some of these questions can be done quickly using them.

(ii) Easier way: 3 possible outcomes: They throw the same, Chris>Pat, Pat>Chris P(not throw the same number)=1-1/6 =5/6 P(Chris>Pat)=P(Pat>Chris) by symmetry So P(Chris>Pat)=5/12

Sample space is reduced due to the fact it is a conditional probability (condition is that one of the ball is red). Since you already know one of the ball is red, the sample space must be reduced to the set of outcomes where at least one of the ball is red.

Don't understand concept of P(AB) in non-mutually Exclusive Events - Probability help

Re: Don't understand concept of P(AB) in non-mutually Exclusive Events - Probability Only use P(AB)=P(A)*P(B) when you can actually tell A and B are physically independent events (for example toss of coin and roll of dice are physically independent, while drawing 2 cards without replacement...

    UNSW course choices

If you did 4u maths and got over 90 as well, do MATH1141 as it seems you are good at maths. Otherwise, stick to MATH1131. Harder courses scales a lot more, and HDs are allocated across both lower and higher courses based on the performance by higher students. Universities look at WAM +...

Don't understand concept of P(AB) in non-mutually Exclusive Events - Probability help

Re: Don't understand concept of P(AB) in non-mutually Exclusive Events - Probability In general P(A and B) = P(A)*P(B GIVEN A has occured) = P(B)*P(A GIVEN B has occured) where P(A GIVEN B has occured) is a conditional probability (the condition is that B has occured) Only when P(B)=P(B GIVEN A...

Don't understand concept of P(AB) in non-mutually Exclusive Events - Probability help

Re: Don't understand concept of P(AB) in non-mutually Exclusive Events - Probability P(A and B)=P(A)*P(B) has nothing to do with non-mutually exclusive events. Rather the result implies that A and B are statistically independent events. Intuitively, independent events are those where...

Do teachers treat students differently in year 11?

If you're a dick to people, they'll be a dick to you. If you're nice to them, they'll return the favour. Same philosophy applies to teachers and being in year 11 seems irrelevant. Though most year 11s are more serious about their studies, and are smart enough to behave in class and treat...

Can I do only 18 uoc?

30 UOC for a computer science/science is quite heavy as most science and computer science subjects have 6 contact hours each. You will need good semester 1 results in order to get special permission to overload. Either do what Lolsmith said and do a gen ed or instead of PHYS1111, why don't...

z is complex so you cant do that Think about what |z-b|=a really means, and use a diagram to figure out the answer
