    Comparative contributions to UAI

An aligned mark (or HSC mark) of 95 in Maths Extension 1 would typically be worth more scaled marks than an aligned mark of 95 in Ancient History - thus contributing more scaled marks to your aggregate and possibly boosting your UAI. But obviously a scaled mark of 95 in a particular course is...

    The 'CLUBs' Guide (sydney)

Really? I haven't been there yet - heard it has good music on Fridays and have been intending to check it out (I like house). I usually just end up at Tank or similar, but don't know that they're ideal for beginners.

    Defences to murder?

Strictly speaking, a claim that the murder was an "accident" doesn't really constitute a defence - it just makes it more difficult for the prosecution to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused intended to commit the murder (i.e. had the necessary mens rea). A true defence will...

    UNSW open day

Yes - the School of CSE asked us to have a presence on campus. I'm hoping at least one of the other admins will be able to make it.

    Australian Students Prize

It's possible that they take the top X students based on their scaled aggregate.

If I come first in a course....

The people who get money are those who win the Australian Students Prize (ASP). You need something like 93+ in at least 10 units. Search the forums for more details.

    How does UAI Estimation work?

I'm assuming you won't be doing your HSC until next year... It's entirely up to your school. Usually, an estimate would be based on all Year 12 work completed to date, and possibly your final rankings from the end of Year 11. It probably wouldn't be calculated until around the time your...

    UAI Question

SAM takes HSC marks as input. The HSC mark is the average of your examination mark and your assessment mark. Please read the instructions.

Board of Studies reveals 2004 raw marks

There might be a few more costs incurred in a matter like that... raw band cut-offs are (or seem to be?) slightly more controversial, which means the Board would be more likely to appeal an adverse decision made by the Tribunal. :) Though I suppose the actual cost of the appeal would fall to...

    law drinks

There were some minor issues with law drinks... something about certain firms not really wanting us to be drinking their sponsorship funds. Should hopefully be resolved soon. :)

If I come first in a course....

You are correct in stating that the raw examination marks and raw internal school assessment marks must be whole numbers - but these marks aren't the ones reported to students. Fractional marks can be introduced into the reported marks in two ways: 1) The multi-linear transformation used...

HSC results..... Can You Get Your HSC Marks remarked???

It's not too late to have this checked - any problem would have arisen from the calculation of the moderated assessment marks for your class, which would still be on file. I strongly suggest that you investigate this ASAP. Such a huge discrepancy could have a very noticeable impact on your UAI.

If I come first in a course....

In most cases, yes - but the reported marks are rounded to the nearest integer, so if your actual mark was only 49.5 or even 49.9, you wouldn't have obtained a perfect raw mark. It's impossible to know unless you top the course (and look up the scaling statistics) or you FOI the Board for...

    moderation

Once all of your assessment tasks have been completed (i.e. internal rankings have been finalised), you can maximise both your final assessment and examination marks by helping everyone in your class (and not just yourself) do well in the HSC exam.

Board of Studies reveals 2004 raw marks

I agree with Captain pi. The legal costs would (roughly) be: $30 initial application fee (BOS) $40 internal review fee (BOS) $55 external review fee (ADT) = $125 But once that was done, if successful, any student would be able to obtain their marks with just the initial fee of $30.

    ACT for sam

Sorry, you can't use marks from the ACT system with SAM. :(

If I come first in a course....

You will only receive an aligned examination mark of 100 if you obtain a raw mark of 100% in the exam. Being ranked first in the state (or being the only student in the course) does not automatically grant you a mark of 100.
