    ATAR Estimate Selective School

ATAR Estimate for a friend School Rank: top 30 Ranks: 2U Maths: 41/81 (School usually gets ~10-15 B6) - 40% of School assessments done English Adv: 26/140 (Usually ~25-30 B6) - 40% of School assessments done Chem: 59/92 (Usually ~25-30 B6) - 30% of School assessments done Bio: 27/44 (Usually...

What do you think is the hardest science?

A few of my friends find the motors and generators topic pretty difficult, just understanding some of the stuff conceptually is hard for them and they're completely fine with maths (some do 4U), so I don't think the Physics 'understanding' simply comes down to calculations and such.

What do you think is the hardest science?

I reckon easily Chem/Phys - Chem hardest for exam technique/answer perfection, Phys hardest for actual theory difficulty. And nah PDHPE isn't a science LOL

    Trigonometric Graphs Help!

It's the same as y = sinx except the period is 2pi/3 rad instead of being 2pi. Just for rules basically: once you know how to sketch y = sinx, y = 2sinx simply doubles the amplitude, y = 3sinx triples the amplitude etc. y = sin2x halves the period (2pi/2 which is just pi), y = sin5x makes...

    Economics?

It's because they look at the price/demand relationship through different perspectives of a) the consumer and b) the firm, since consumer/firm decisions are interlinked (if you remember from the circular flow, these 2 sectors have the biggest influence upon each other compared to other sectors).

    Economics?

Basically this, but just rewording it: Think of this. If you're a small business, and no one/not many people want to buy your goods/services (i.e low/no demand), you still want to sell your product. But, you realise that you have to make the price extremely low to attract consumers (since...

Got destroyed in the recent Assessment block

Yeah haha, you can defs still get a B5 - at most top schools, 90%-ish of Chem students will get a B5/B6. So I'm guessing with a cohort of at least 80-90 students, you can defs pick up marks in trials which are worth like 30% at least. If you pick up marks in trials (or any assessments remaining...

How to get 95 HSC Mark for English

Yep of course, sophisticated/original ideas and not being too strict in terms of structure/having a bit of an elegant flow with the way you say things, not just "Q/T/E/Link to Rubric - rinse and repeat". But tbh your ideas don't need to be overtly sophisticated and you can still get 95 if you...

How to get 95 HSC Mark for English

Sophistication of ideas, elegance/sophistication of language, and most importantly, answering and engaging with the question well. Also, maintaining consistency is important throughout modules - don't have "weak" modules where your essays are less than 17/20 or 13/15 level.

    Hypothetical ATAR question...

Nah if you're first, afaik you don't get pulled down - and I'd say that your ATAR would probably be around 99.2-ish

Just wondering, what ranks at Ruse for 99+?

I hope you know that getting those ranks at Ruse is just as hard as say, a rank 15 in Chemistry at an average selective LOL

    Referencing media articles

So is it sufficient to say: “Rights must be balanced with Responsibilities” (SMH, 2010) or should you say like “Rights must be balanced with Responsibilities” (SMH, Dec 2010) and even add the journalist?
