    stressin'

If I can offer one bit of advice, make sure you get the basics down. Pull out any past HSC Extension 1 paper and look at the first few questions. Chances are you'll be able to do (or at least recognise) a good portion of the first question (if not the first few) due to the heavy reliance on...

Students of 2005 calculate the band cut offs for the 2005 HSC maths exam!

Raw Mark: 105/120 (Minus 5 for stupid mistakes but i have checked pretty much all the questions I actually did and already subtracted the marks which i know i stuffed)

    Worked Solutions

The probability question in that answer set IS correct. You're right in saying that you have to multiply by six, but that answer already has taken that into account Here: P(One of each) = (100/300) x (100/299) x (100/298) x 6 = 0.224461.... ) Which is the same as the decimal...

How Much Do U Think Well Get Scaled Up?

Why is 75/120 alligning to an 85 so far fetched? In 2003, according to the Raw marks obtained by FOI, a 73/120 alligned to an 82 - there's actually no real reason to it couldn't be the case. It just depends on how hard the board thinks it is in comparison to the standards set.

Ahhh very good point...... i've been thinking all along it said at the END of each year. I concede then - it is 2018 :).

    Solutions

Very close mate - P(One of each) = (100/300) * (100/299) * (100/298) * 6 You have to multiply by six because there are six possible arrangments: i.e. Red, Green, Blue Red, Blue, Green Green,Blue,Red Green,Red,Blue Blue,Green,Red Blue,Red,Green You'd probably get 1 out of 2 for...

    Solutions

Yeah i agree with you that dV/dt = -80L/s DOES imply that it's leaving, however when putting it into a sentence I like "draining at 80L/s" because to me that makes more sense - the draining implies the negative nature of the rate. As for 5c, here's the solution: y = 2e^x + 3x dy/dx =...

    Solutions

Well, a similar question in the 2002 HSC which asked: "at what rate was the water draining out when the cooler was one-quarter full?" The answer in the back, which is from a book by the Mathematics Association of NSW, is provided at "The rate of draining at 5/12 L/s". So i figure if it's...

    Solutions

    I know this sounds rather stupid, but i find the easiest way is to count it out with your fingers. A1 = End of 2005 A2 = End of 2006 A3 = End of 2007 A4 = End of 2008 A5 = End of 2009 A6 = End of 2010 A7 = End of 2011 A8 = End of 2012 A9 = End of 2013 A10 = End of 2014 A11 = End of...

    Unfairness????

Just thought i'd give my two cents. First of all, at my school they send in marks to the nearest whole number, as many have suggested. I think this is common practice. Secondly, I'd warn you to be very careful in calculating your raw assessment marks. Here's why: At my school, they use...

anyone watching Sunrise just before 7:30?

Hey. Yeah i did see that on sunrise... it's a small world! I kinda agree with you to an extent about the role of the senate, but to counter that i mean they did get voted in.. it wasn't like they siezed control by force or something. The whole benefit of democracy is that the people get to...
