    Your thoughts on the exam

Pompeii- good, good, was able to save a bit of time from this bit to use later Sparta- yeah, pretty generic................I didn't refer heaps to the source they gave us tho, but more other ones. Hatshepsut- Was a bit thrown at first with the foreign policy but then went into how stuff she did...

    Band 6 cut off?

i think you'd have to be in atleast 65+ /84 to get an E4. I know the scaling willbe pretty good this year but would it be fair on the ppl who got over 70/84 to be getting E4's as well as those who got say 58/84? thats a pretty big gap. But then again, i have no idea how 3 unit scaling works...

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

Pez, , please don't say decently easy. It would perhaps have been heaps easier if we had the time to think over everything really thoroughy.....most things come out if you look at them for long enough..but for the marks questions were worth there was so much working and for a 2 hour exam, thats...

Mathematics - General thoughts on the exam

Nah it wasn't a 3u growth and decay question. I thought the same thing at first, but it only looked like one. The question said it was a model, so basically it was substitution into formulae and differentiation. It only would've been 3 unit if they'd said 'prove this is a solution to the...

Mathematics - General thoughts on the exam

I realised i did that at about 10 oclock the night of the exam. i was so pissed about it! how annoying is it to know you lost marks in question 1 of all questions.........lol

Mathematics - General thoughts on the exam

yeah if its evaluate it can be negative. You just had to be careful withstuff like the area under the curve from -1 to 1 when y= x cubed and stuff like that.............if you just integrate it you get 0 because the two area cancel each other. If it was just evaluate you wouldn't get an...

Mathematics - General thoughts on the exam

Yep i got 800 overflow and 4a/3. I remember that much. I refused to take the paper home. For me, i know it will be unhealthy if i go over the questions............. already realised one really dumb mistake and that pissed me off enough. Good luck all! But overall I thought it was anok exam. Not...

How did you find the difficulty?

I found it pretty hard compared with all the past papers. However, i also feel that even if wed had 2.5 hours, it would've been more 'do-able'. There was stuff that was like a page of working for just 2 marks and that was annoying. I probably could've done heaps more or done the proofs better if...

    Predict your raw mark

Well, if I'm pretty sure Im in the 55-64 range, maybe high 60s if I get marks for all the bits of proofs i did in 6 and 7........It was hard, so I think the scaling will pretty good. Considering I did this subject for no reason apart from the fact that I like it, I'm hapy with that. I never...

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

Sure, I spent a stack of time doing maths throughout Year 11 and 12. If i could divide the amount of study i did into say 10 units, maths took like 6 nd everything else 4. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with studying heaps its good in one sense, but its also important that you dont burn...

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

Do you have a life? AT ALL? The HSC is only the beginning of life. In a few years, even few months, is anybody even going to care if they got over 90 in 3U maths? If thats what really matters to you, you really need to get out more. To say that youve failed your future from one exam....that is...

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

well, if ppl are finding 2U heaps harder than 3U then.....................?????? Did you study for 2U at all if you found 3U really easy?

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

Pez, you're the man! But in reply to abba......... who quoted pesila....I felt that the exam really didn't cover as much as it hould've...like out of the whole binomial theorem, what did we have to do? A twomark thing! And I just love trig, its my blitz area and there was just nothing! I hate...

Maths Ext 1 - General thoughts on the exam

Well, compared to the last few years i thought it was a lot harder. some bits were pretty good, some were ok, but as a whole it was in the hard category. The general standard of questions was hard. I did nearly all of the past HSCs from 89 onwards and usually 1-5 is pretty straightforward...even...
