How much Math is needed for Commerce

For first year units like ACST101 / ECON111 / STAT170 , you may need a bit of maths (very easy though like algebra). As for your major in HR or Marketing, I see little mathematical skills that are required.

    External transfer to macquarie university

Yes, 68-70 is more than sufficient to transfer into the B.Commerce degree @ MQ. It's not that competitive to be honest to transfer into a Commerce degree at MQ, you should be like 100% guaranteed a spot with your marks :)

Unit Code: ACCG200 Difficulty: Easy - Medium Lecturer: Sophia Su Tutor: James Mackey Year and Semester Taken: 2014 S1 Workload: Moderate Comments: The tutor has a great personality and was very good at explaining the concepts. Only thing I would be cautious about in this subject is the Excel...

Unit Code: ACCG250 Difficulty: Easy - Medium Lecturer: Matthew Mansour - He's a good lecturer but can be a little boring/time wasting sometimes in the lectures. Goes off topic a lot with his "story telling" and case studies. Tutor: May Vargas Year and Semester Taken: 2014 S1 Workload: Moderate...

Unit Code: ACCG224 Difficulty: Moderate Lecturer: Thomas Kern Tutor: Thomas Kern Year and Semester Taken: 2014 S1 Workload: Moderate (Tutorial questions take a bit of time) Comments: Probably the hardest but most interesting accounting unit at 200 level. The lecturer is pretty good.

    Transferring from Commerce to Com/law?

Do at least 6 subjects with a GPA of 3.0 which is 65/100, to be considered for internal transfer. (http://www.law.mq.edu.au/future_students/combined_llb_programs/internal_transfer/) For the ATAR, you can get lucky if you transfer mid semester and I got in with 91.00, as not many people applied...

A major in just accounting cannot get you into the graduate diploma program for the bodies of CA/CPA or the IPA. Also, the subject compositions are different.

    Advice for STAT170 Please?

Hello, I did ECON111 and I got 79/100, which is a distinction. To do well, you must attend all lectures and tutorials; the tutorial questions are particularly important as the final exam is going to be partially based on them. Try to also use Econlab and the Eguide, do the chapter reviews and...

Any questions about the Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws welcomed here.

Yes, you can double major in B.Comm. In regards to if it's a good choice, well it really depends on your career path and opportunities. If you feel that the extra major is necessary then go for it, but it will be an extra year of study.

Pros of doing Law: -Firms will highly recognise that extra law degree and you will 'stand' out. -You will be pretty competitive in the job market as you have a Comm+Law degree in comparison to other Comm students, you will also have legal knowledge that can broaden your career opportunities...

Any questions about the Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws welcomed here.

You have two choices, if you want to do Comm/Law at MQ: 1. First option, get at least a D-average WAM which is around 75 and try apply via UAC by the end of the year. 2. Second option, you can apply mid year and hope that there is not many strong competitors with high ATAR's. I was able to...

Hey, how's the holidays? Thanks for the advice on LAW115, I am reading the textbooks atm and it seems okay. But what are legal footnotes? Is this the place on the bottom of the page where you put your legal referencing and citations/ sources? Btw, what subjects are you taking this semester?

    B Comm/B Laws

I would highly advise you not to do 4 + units in conjunction with MATH123, MATH123 has 4 lectures (1 hour sessions) and 1 tutorial, which you may find quite intense.

    B Comm/B Laws

You should do MATH123, as you may find it slightly challenging as it's assumed knowledge that you did at least 2U Mathematics in high school. On the plus side, you can use MATH123 as your planet unit, therefore you will not be wasting any graduation time! HI-5 btw, welcome to Comm/Law!

ATARs of people who did standard english

Just invest one hour per day on studying English, throughout your HSC, and I can guarantee you'll get at least a band 5 :) Also, if you go to a poorly ranked school, ensure you're in the top of the cohort or else you'll pretty much get a band 4.

UNSW Law/Commerce vs UTS Law/Business - Transfer questions included

Good thing about UTS law is that you do not have to go to the college of law, which can save you a few amount of months :) Also, UTS is getting there as mentioned, so I would take this path.
