Strength of Gravity approaching centre of Earth

I had the same question in my exam (and it was also the 2nd MC question). Answer is definitely decreases to 0 as you approach centre.

    Biology!

Key concepts involved: polypeptides are made as instructed by the DNA base sequence, and a mutation is a permanent change in the sequence of nucleotides on DNA. A simple flowchart can answer your question, obviously coupled with some description which I have not included. DNA Sequence -->...

Preliminary Physics Tutoring -- Enrolling students for 2014

Re: Preliminary Physics Tutoring -- Starting 25th March (QUALIFIED TEACHER) Definitely the best tutor! Physics-God and such a great guy who genuinely cares about each one of his students! Goes out of his way to help his students on a regular basis. Also has such a great, systematic structure to...

    Recreational activities during hsc

Yes definitely go gym! Very flexible (as opposed to something like Soccer) and is extremely beneficial for your overall health - will in turn help with study and memory retention also. :)

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon It's probably better defined as being the increase in velocity given to a spacecraft because it enters the gravitational field of a planet as it passes by.

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon Good stuff, maybe instead of the first sentence though, I would have defined the slingshot effect.

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon Yeah I wasn't sure whether to mention landing, based on the wording of the question. I also probably went too in depth in some areas and not enough in others. If the spacecraft re-enters at an angle too shallow (typically greater than 10degrees), the spacecraft...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon Issue: There is an optimum angle for safe re-entry for a manned spacecraft. Failure to meet such an angle can result in fatality and destruction. Other factors that need to be taken into consideration and appropriately treated in order for a safe re-entry are...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon Yeah that's exactly right. Those postulates are just reasons that people suggested as to why the yield result occurred (not factual). How much marks? This could potentially be a 3-4 or 7-8 marker?

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon Yeah, scientists could later reason that length contraction wasn't responsible since it was a relativistic effect. However at the time, some people believed that length contraction had occurred in the arm parallel to the direction of motion of the apparatus...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon That's a good effort Immortalp00n. I was thinking more along the lines of this as a response: A null result is produced when an experiment does not produce the expected result. Reasons postulated for the null result of the MM experiment are; - Massive objects can...

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon When a satellite's propulsion system is fired, combustion between the fuel and oxidizer occur (within the propulsion system rockets), creating exhaust gases. The rockets push (applying a force) the exhaust gases back out through exhaust jets. Corresponding to...
