General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Yeah what do you mean!? Don't all three sections count!?

    other entries into uni ?

There are plenty of alternate pathways into uni. Heck, even if you get a mystery mark, you can still get into university. It might take you longer but in the end, you are still in. If you don't get into the course you want, you can always do a course with a lower atar requirement which you can...

Hands up if you haven't started studying!

+1 This is SO true, having a Phd doesn't mean you're gonna get a job and it doesn't even give them an "edge" over other employers, lmao. Where do people get these ideas from? Having a phd or sometimes even a degree from any uni just makes you look overqualified to employers. Why would they hire...

    3 weeks till HSC

That's great work! Keep working hard and you can reach the 90s range. Open uni is pretty much an online education provider. You can complete degrees or units of degrees online. What you can do is complete 4 units and provided you get good marks, you can use it to apply for university

    Applying for jobs

I want to start applying for jobs and I have no idea how to do it lol. I've never applied for a job and I have no idea how to go about it. I wanna work somewhere like Mcdonalds, Gloria Jeans or JB Hi Fi. Do you do it online or do you go and ask for the manager? Also when writing a resume, what...

    How do you "self-learn?"

I also agree with randomnessss and Drongoski. Complete isolated study can be hard. There have been times where I was just completely stuck on concepts and needed to ask teachers and other students for clarification. Self-learning is a great way to gain independence in your studies but engaging...

    How do you "self-learn?"

There are thousands of online resources that you can use to self-learn and one of my teachers even recommends self-teaching to prepare for university. My teacher gave us two assignments for year 12 for physics, one worth 30% and the other worth 20% and what the assignment literally was you have...

    3 weeks till HSC

Don't go to UWS OR Tafe. Just work hard, a 90 atar is still possible now. Just push youself! And if you don't make it, I recommend open university. If you have the motivation to self teach yourself, I think it's a great way to get a real degree without any qualifications!

    Favorite tv show?

    Futurama :D

    HELP! No motivation....

C'mon, you can do it :) Start off with just 20 minutes of study then go have a break. When you come back, do an hour of study, have a break. Come back do 2 hours of study then have a break. Come back do 4 hours of study and so on. Just work your way up, I found this really helps on days I don't...

    Is it possible?

Yes it's possible! I have been doing this for like all my exams this year. It's SO much better and easier than creating an essay on the spot. Just practice practice practice adapting your essay to the set questions

    After today...

I love my timetable :D All my exams are on the last few days of october and the rest are in early November. Other than English, my earliest exam is still a month away!! :D
  13. C

Do these subjects scale well ?

You can get any atar with any combination for subjects. Even 99 if possible for you if you make sure your ranks are excellent and that shouldn't be too hard if you have a poor cohort :)

    After today...

    I'm screwed. :l Especially for business D:

Why are YOU stressed for the HSC?

I'm a little stressed :( Even though you feel you are prepared, that weird atmosphere of exam halls just seem so scary

    getting into unsw

Just do a course with a lower cut-off that's related to science, work your butt off the fist year and then transfer

    How to improve?

Find your weaknesses and work on them, just do them again and again and again till you get it right!

    Tafe to UWS?

To do the diploma, you probably would have to do a Cert IV in IT which takes around 6 -12 months to complete and then you do the Diploma which is an additional 6 months. You will have to show them that you have enough knowledge to do the diploma otherwise it's best to do the Cert IV. I know a...
