What if your internal unmoderated mark is the same when rounded to the nearest integer, but your rank is different?

I'm not an expert, but to the best of my knowledge, I think: When NESA moderates marks, they try and keep the spread of marks fairly equal. For example, if the top ranking student got 90, and the second ranking student got 85, no matter whether moderated up or down, NESA would try to keep a gap...

    Mod C Tips?

^^^ Anything please. I open the paper and my mind is BLANK. I'm fine with reflections, but coming up with an idea on the spot is really hard. On the verge of a mental breakdown for this module haha.

Whats everyone's routine the day before exams?

I agree that it depends on the subject. But generally, I read through my notes a couple times, and look at my syllabus making sure I can recall everything. Then practice questions, then past papers in timed conditions. :)

best way to memorise quotes for hsie subjects?

The only subject I've ever had to remember quotes for is English, so not sure if I can provide the best advice. However, I remember quotes by: 1) Making a 'TEE' Table - [Technique (if applicable), Example, Effect] and reading over this out loud a few times 2) Writing practice essays/responses...

    Research Methods - Literature Review?

Hey guys! Quick question. Is a literature review generally considered a primary or secondary research method? I was under the impression that a literature review is primary if you are the author that has interpreted and compiled the existing secondary research, and a literature review is...

Am I right to think this

Hey! I've replied to a post explaining this concept before! If you wanted to have a read of it you can see it here: https://boredofstudies.org/threads/scared-of-my-atar.400736/post-7433105 The snippet @carrotsss provided from the SMH is also a great simplified summary of how the ATAR is...

    English Trials/HSC Help!

Wow, that's great, however doesn't seem to be quite working for me sadly. I think I have a similar approach, in doing thesis, explanation, techniques/quotes, and linking sentence, all which correlate to the question. General feedback from my teacher is that there's no 'issue' per se in my...

    English Trials/HSC Help!

Yes, the approach I'm taking at this point is to kind of have overarching theses and adaptable techniques/quotes as evidence, which I sort of manipulate to fit the question given. I'm quite prepared for Module A, because in a comparative study, 99% of questions are about the 'resonances and...

    English Trials/HSC Help!

Phew, this is a huge relief. I think what I'm most worried about is actually internal exams (as opposed to hand-ins), because I have done okayish on the hand-ins (16/20 and 12/15) but in my Mod A exam I received a 15/20 which is the lowest I've ever gotten in English. This makes me really...

    English Trials/HSC Help!

Oh my goodness, thank you so much, you are a lifesaver! These are such great tips, especially the first one, I'm going to need to practice elevating my thesis statements to a more 'insightful' level rather than sorta reiterating the question. It can be really hard to come up with a good thesis...

    English Trials/HSC Help!

Hi everyone! So I am really struggling with English Advanced at the moment. It feels like no matter how much I sit down and practice, watch youtube/edrolo videos, peer mark, or get feedback from my teacher, my marks never seem to improve and they've been pretty stagnant all year (and for my...

What is another way I can articulate the "experience of hope" from the common module?

I guess other ways to phrase 'the experience of hope' depends on your question/thesis. Perhaps try aspirations, desire, ambitions, optimism, with an adjective to portray your idea? Also don't forget you can throw in the language of the module. E.g (1984 is my common mod text): Orwell...

    PIP NAME TITLE HELP

Hey! I'm not the best with titles, but I'll try. I don't know the scope of your PIP, and what exactly it entails. Have you explored specific races? Is it mostly focused on biracial people who are both black and white? If your PIP mostly explores biracial people who are both black and white...

    Scared of my ATAR

Hi bbybaby26, I can't speak much on your possible diagnosis, and whether this would provide you with some kind of misadventure appeal / special consideration. However, I'll try my best to answer your question, "Is it possible to save your overall ATAR with your HSC mark?" Short answer: It...

thoughts on the stimulus for discursive/how to get ideas in discursive? (plssss help)

Hey! This is a nice quote for a discursive piece! Discursive pieces are great, because they are quite flexible. You can make this quote fit into your own interpretation and whatever you want to write about. The main idea of this quote that jumps out at me is the imagined reality of literature -...

    Advice on teacher's marking (CAFS)!

Hi everyone! This is my first post on BoS, so hopefully it reaches the right people. :) I'm currently a Year 12 (HSC 2022) student, and one of the courses I have chosen to undertake is Community and Family Studies, or CAFS. Recently, we completed the T1 assessment on Research Methodologies...
