yup, it's possible to transfer to a HECS spot, my friend transferred so that saved him $22 000 in 2nd year! Just work hard in 1st year to get the marks needed for the transfer.

[Dilemma, dilemma: Dentistry, Optometry and Pharmacy] My insights - need advice.

Hi, I'm a current UG Pharm student in the middle of exams......and all I have to add is, if you choose pharm, Organic chem will kill you to the end. Also, Pharmacy also offers other pathways eg. industry and hospital jobs

Hey all! Ok, after finishing ur 4 year degree (that's if you manage to pass everything first time first go) you graduate, get the nice certificate to frame and hang in the doorway, shake the deans hand and most importantly.....start looking for a pharm grad position and start your...

Ok, so here's how it works. - If you do say a B med science for one year, then to transfer into pharm ur UAI is not considered but only ur uni marks and it's highly likely that u'll prob need a distinction average. - If you did B med science and stopped like halfway thru first year, then...

Yet another..Pharmacy thread. Comparison between Unis.

Hi, Ok, I do pharmacy and this is what I've learnt, to be a pharmacist, no matter which university you go to, jus like any other course there is a standard amount of knowledge and course material which you would have had to cover and successfully completed. So every university will have to...

Yeah, I didn't do bio in Yr 12 and i survived, just make sure you do "concepts in biology" in you first semester and u should be fine as they virtually start from scratch

Well, under the old system 2nd year Pharmacy meant like 7 subjects per semester. Under the new "6 credit point" system this year I was lucky and only have to do 4 subjects, however for many things all they simply did was combine 2 subjects into one eg. "Pharmacology and Physiology" is counted as...

Pharmacy has virtually no application of physics whatsoever (well at least not so far in 1st and 2nd year). I did physics in Year 12, and the closest i've gotten to applying my physics knowledge is the tiny bit we did about electron energy levels and wavelengths and even then, it wasn't anywhere...

Yeah, I agree, first is a bit of a let down as it doesnt really seem relevant to anything as yet.....however I'm in second year and it is a lot better. The content is harder but you can actually see it's relevance and thus it grabs your interest more. First year is basically like a science...

oh yeah, one more thing, I dont know what your careers advisor is on about, but my friend did engineering and got into pharm with no problem, there are even people who transferred from architecture.

Yeah, Tenille is right. I do pharm and the subjects we do (ie. our bio, chem, maths etc) aren't advanced subjects we essentially do what every other normal science student does (I mean, I did Concepts in Biology which is the most easiest and basic bio u can do at uni). So yeah, u will still be...

Hey, I'm pretty sure Usyd offer B Science (advance) as well, although the UAI is quite a bit higher. If you are planning to do science, make it easier on urself by picking subjects which will allow you to be exempt in pharmacy ie. do your research and pick the right maths, chemistry...

No, you can do almost any course at any university and transfer into pharmacy, it just most probably requires a distinction average and the required STAT score to get in though. The only advantage of doing a science course though, is that you have better background knowledge and also you may be...

    mathematics level for pharmacy

If you are looking for a hard core maths course, then pharmacy isn't for you. The maths can get tough at times, but it's at an adequate level for those of 2 unit maths to get through if they apply themselves.

    stat test

Hey Munkaii, If you are planning on doing Pharmacy at Usyd, it's best to apply for the STAT through UAC. There should b a form included in your UAC Guide. That way, your STAT score will automatically be sent to the Pharmacy faculty when you put it down as a preference.....leaving you worry free!

    mathematics level for pharmacy

Hi, I"m in 2nd year Pharmacy and I did 3 units Maths. With statistics, it doesn't matter what maths you do, most of it will be new to you and you'll need to work through it yourself as the topics aren't covered in the HSC syllabus anyway. However, with calculus, it gets pretty tough if you've...
