Q25) Developer's View of the Hardware

Just wondering how other people's answers compared to mine: (a)(i) 2310 = 000101112 Two's compliment = 11101001 (ii) I wasn't quite sure, I said something like the negative numbers were made positive before the division (shifts and subtracts) then if the numerator was negative XOR the...

    Notes from the marking center

Read the notes from the marking center for 4 unit maths in 1998, question 6, part (b) (ii). Or for those who do not have it off hand: Is that not the saddest thing you have ever read?

    Poincare conjecture solved

    Fibonacci Flim-Flam

Article: http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/pseudo/fibonacc.htm Although quite a biased read it does offer an interesting slant on Fibonacci and its "apparent" beauty in nature while debunking several myths surrounding the constant, leading me to question its significance.

    Arc Length

Does anybody know why arc length is not dealt with in 4 unit maths? It is not very difficult at all to deal with and is included in most non-school calculus books.

    Scaling

There are only three people in my 4 Unit Maths class. Our first test for year 12 was on complex numbers, I got all of it correct except the last question which was circle geometry and I completely stuffed up rendering a score of 85%. The other two guys I think got around 50%. Here is my...

    Finished

I had six weeks to do this assignment, I left it till the last day and did it in one sitting. Now I'm done and realising how much better I could have gone if only I started earlier. When will I ever learn?

    Seeing Relativity

Somebody has compiled a bunch of videos showing what the world would look like if c was 1ms^-1. It is quite interesting and might help you visualise and understand relativity better: http://www.anu.edu.au/Physics/Searle/ (scroll down past the screenshots to the videos)

    Distributed Computing

If you want to take part in a distributed computing attack to solve the Sierpinski problem then see http://www.seventeenorbust.com/. For those who dont know: What is distributed computing? What is the Sierpinski problem?

    Do you program?

This course has been quite a letdown for me. There's too much crap like ergonomics and social issues instead of real coding. If I knew that at the start I would have chosen engineering.
