Ok.
I am considering dropping history extension, which would bring my total number of units down to 10. I've been told this is a bad idea because -
1. if i 'stuff up' I can fall back on another unit and it won't seriously affect my marks/uai etc.
2. universities look for 11+ units, not 10 (I've been told -- don't necessarily believe it)
Basically my principle advised me to keep it because it would better my chances of university entrance and a UAI of 95+.(which is what I'm heading for)
My reaons for wishing to drop it are:
-my class is seriously behind in course work
-I have 3 major projects and history extension has a project that I consider a major project, although it is marked internally -- I have stuffed around with it and not done nearly enough work. It is due 26th May.
-it's dragging down my work time as I find I have to spend more time on it and thus is taking time from my other major projects.
- I find the course work boring and can't maintain interest
- all classes are offline and after school, taking away time from other subjects, and making me loathe the subject.
I know if I keep it and really start working I can do well. However, I find the work boring and am not motivated to do it.
Is it worth keeping it for security? I'm not expecting to 'stuff up' anything, as I'm pretty confident with the subjects I have. (4unit eng, anicent, society and culture, drama). But things can go wrong I suppose...
I just want to know if universities really do 'look for 11+ units" as I've been told, and if it will help my mark if I keep it and do mediocre. I mean, if I have 11 units and the 11th goes crap, do they not just count the best ten units? Meaning it wouldn't even be counted and I therefore wasted my time with it?
Please help me out, I am totally indecisive at the moment.
