I know everyone says 14 Units is too many for the HSC
But I have no clue what to drop.

I currently do

Ancient History: rank 2/75
Modern History: 3/52
Chemistry: 20/160
English Advanced: 3/250
English Extension: 2/60
German continuers: 2/6 (the person coming first is fluent)
Mathematics: 30/200
and I am picking up ext 2 English.

I think i'd be insane for contemplating doing all 14 but would I be better waiting until after my first exams to decide what to drop?
I'm worried that if I do that then some of my subjects will suffer.
if not - any suggestions on what I should drop??
Keeping in mind I want a 95+ ATAR.

just do it #yolo

seriously though it depends what you want to do after (because thats really the sole point of HSC not getting to define yourself by some number)

Id say either Maths (lowest rank) or German (cohorts with some small numbers always get a bit dicey). If you want to go into something humanity based drop maths, if you want to go into something more sciency, drop German

Hey, we have kinda similar subject sets (language, 4U English, Chemistry, Modern) and I'm doing 14 units next year as well. I think the reason while I'll cope is the fact that EXT2 is one of the 14, which isn't really akin to EXT2 math in that it is more of a leisure activity than a subject you have to grind for hours (plus: no HSC exam). Definitely start on 14U, and if you don't feel comfortable or confident drop something, but I think you'll regret it if you don't try. You can always PM me for support next year and we can dry together over the awfulness of 14 units :)
