I do do Modern History, I did year 10 history and I've read the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels. So to answer your question, yes, I do know what a communist is.

Initially i thought an election based on trust was rather ironic. But if you think about it, it's not just asking who you believe more, but who you hold to be less incompetent in running the country. Doesn't really matter, i find it hard to believe any of them, let alone trust them to run the country. The libs have done some interesting things in the name of economic rationalism (medicare, tert. education), but i'm not convinced that some labour policies aren't a little simplistic either...
Does anyone else get the feeling that long term development of services and infrastructure (at state level as well as federal) has been relegated for short term vote buying measures like tax cuts - we hear about surpluses, yet not much about more funding for institutions of the country that are suffering - our schools, unis and medical system to name a few - that relatively few people would complain about improving? (i know the situation is a little more complex, but the gist is the same...)
