Okay, I'm doing BCom., BSc. at the moment and anyone taking this course will know that there is the opportunity to not do ECMT1010 and instead do MATH 1005/1015/1905 to satisfy minimum mathematics requirements in the Science degree. According to the faculty handbook and online it states that:
"*Please Note: Students who complete MATH 1005/MATH 1015/MATH 1905 and an additional junior MATH unit are not required to complete Business and Economic Statistics A (ECMT1010) but must replace this unit with another junior unit of their choice from the Faculty of Economics and Business. However, students who intend to undertake a major in Econometrics should study ECMT1010 and choose alternative MATH unit options to meet the requirements of the Science component of their degree."
So my question is, what if I intend to do a Commerce major which is NOT Econometrics but requires EMCT1010 as a compulsory unit of study (e.g. Accounting or Finance) and at the same time I wish to do a Science major in something that requires MATH 1005/1015/1905 (e.g. Financial Mathematics or just Mathematics)?
Given that I'm not allowed to do both junior units of study, does that mean I can never take certain Commerce-Science major combinations such as Accounting and Financial Mathematics? Or do they allow MATH 1005/1015/1905 as an acceptable alternative to ECMT1010 to complete such majors?
Also, what's the maximum number of junior credit points that are allowed in this course? If I decide to major in something that requires more than one extra junior unit other than the core units, then these "additional" junior units are permitted right?
