Do AC induction motors have commutators?(slip ring)

Thanks!

Becareful saying that.

A universal motor, that can run on AC, has a split ring commutator.

A universal motor is the same as an ordinary DC motor except the coil and the electromagnets are in series.

So when the coil swaps direction the magnets do as well so it spins the same way.

hey

Just a bit confused...can u pls clear this up?

"AC motor has slip rings, not a commutator"

What do u mean by this?? - i thought AC motors had slip ring commutators.

AC induction motors do not require Slip rings as the current is applied to coils in the stator."

i remember my teacher saying that induction motors do have slip rings......pls correct me if im wrong!

Thanks!

Induction motors do not posses slip rings, as the current is induced.

AC synchronous motors do however, posses slip rings.

Universal motors posses split ring commutators.
