well I've just got a digital camera and I would like to capture the DV tape onto my Adobe editing program. The problem is that I have connected the USB cable between the DVcam and the firewall plug but still nothing happened :(

Can someone give me a hand? thanks

Did you turn your camera on once its connected? Thats what I need to do with mine, and then it comes up as a portable drive.

Its USB so it should be Plug and Play, but just in case run Add Hardware Wizard for it, or try the cameras website and check any FAQ's there.

OK if its a DV camera then u need a firewire cable... and firewire port on the computer cos this isnt just a basic Digital foto camera..

the name of the standard is IEEE1394

this is NOT USB its a lot faster and streams the video
dun worri i thought i could use the usb at first :p

a few questions:
which brand and model DV camera do u have?

which editing program and version do u use?

the port is generalli another PCI card (like ure video card or sound card) installed onto ure mother board.

i got cabling for $7 and card for $35 about a year ago .. so its alot cheaper now..
the more expensive ones come with software and nifty extensions.. but usualli a basic one will do..

hope that helps
