These are descriptions of the status messages telstra could be sending you if you apply for xDSL.
XDSL - ADDRESS/SERVICE NUMBER MISMATCH
Either the address, or service number applied for are incorrect, or Telstra has the wrong address details for the customer on that phone number. In the latter case, the customer needs to contact their telephone service provider and get their records updated before reapplying.
XDSL - ALTERNATIVE PATH CHECK UNDERWAY
The order is on hold. The customers phone line is either on a pair-gain system or a RIM. Telstra are investigating the possibility of replacing the customers phone line with a copper pair. This process usually takes 2-3 weeks, or up to 15 working days.
NO CMUX PORTS
The order is on hold. Telstra will add more ports to the exchange at some point in the near future. This can take anything from 2 weeks to 3 months.
XDSL - ALTERNATE PATH NOT FOUND
This order has been rejected because the customers line could not be changed to a copper pair. Customer is either on a Pair-Gain or a RIM.
XDSL - ANT1 CONVERSION AVAILABLE
The customer has an old version of the Pair Gain system on their line. If they call their telephone service provider, they can have it removed.
XDSL - EXCHANGE NOT DSL ENABLED
The customers local telephone exchange has not been enabled for ADSL yet. It may be at some point in the future.
XDSL - TRANSMISSION LOSS TOO HIGH
The customers telephone line falls outside the acceptable thresholds for transmission loss for a working ADSL connection. Either they are too far from the exchange or their line/internal wiring is substandard.
XDSL - INCOMPATIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE - LINE CONDITIONING EQUIP
There is a device on the customers phone line at the exchange that doesnt support ADSL. Most commonly this is either a device to improve transmission strength or an induction coil to protect the line from lightning strikes in exchanges that are prone to storm damage. It can however be any number of other devices.
XDSL - INVALID SERVICE NUMBER/INACTIVE SERVICE
The line that ADSL has been requested on is either not connected or awaiting connection/reconnection.
XDSL - CUSTOMER HAS PRODUCT WITH ANOTHER PROVIDER
The customer still has ADSL with a different provider. If the customer claims they dont have ADSL with anyone, they can call their telephone service provider and ask who the other ADSL provider is.
XDSL - INCOMPATIBLE LINE TYPE - NON PSTS
The customers telephone line is not a normal copper pair phone line, and therefore wont support ADSL.
XDSL - INCOMPATIBLE LINE TYPE - NON TELSTRA
The customers telephone line is not part of the Telstra network. This refers to the physical cable and the equipment at the exchange, rather than which provider the customer pays for phone calls.
XDSL - INCOMPATIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE - ANT1/2
The customers line has an old version of the pair gain system installed. Its not clear if it can be removed or not. The customer will have to call their telephone service provider and ask.
I think this should be stickied.
