'Al-Qaeda' threat to blast offices

A MAN claiming to represent al-Qaeda in Australia has left a telephone message at an Arabic Australian newspaper threatening to kill its editor-in-chief and destroy its offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
Apparently reading from a script, the Arabic-speaking caller threatened to butcher every Iraqi Kurd and Shiite in Australia.
ASIO and NSW police are investigating the message, left for al-Furat editor-in-chief Hussein Khoshnow 10 days ago.
The caller claims his "well-structured organisation" will track down the names and addresses of the newspaper's reporters.
"We will destroy the newspaper's headquarters in Sydney very soon, God willing," the caller says. "We will destroy the newspaper's headquarters in Melbourne. You will be butchered. Every Iraqi Kurd and Shiite in Australia will be butchered."

Al Quaeda has very little to do with Iraq.

From the same article

The caller appeared to assume, incorrectly, that Mr Khoshnow was a Shiite and said: "You Shiites are dogs. You are scum, to be trodden underfoot. From Moqtada al-Sadr to Hassan Nasrallah, all your leaders are dogs and scum. Do not think that the death of Saddam will save you. We will deter you with terrorism here inside Australia.
"Has the death of the president, the martyr, the living leader and hero who will never die, Saddam Hussein, a lesson for you? Do you want to savage the Sunnis, you dogs? I say to you, and repeat and reiterate, do not forget that one day we will take revenge, God willing, by liquidating the dog, Moqtada al-Sadr, who visited America and gave up Saddam.
So this has nothing to do with Iraq war?

Indian Princess, Sunni vs Shiites/Kurds was LONG before the Iraqi war. The Iraqi war was apparently about WMD (/oil, obv).

People who have no clue about Middle Eastern politics should really not bother commenting.

Firstly, you didnt post that in your original post

Also, just because he refers to Saddam and Sadr doesnt mean its about the Iraq war. Its about sectarian violence in Australia

OMG have I said that Sunni vs Shiite just started with Iraq War? I am only saying the Iraq War exacerbate the conflict between the two sect and it seems like it is spreading to Australia as well; according to the article. People who have no clue about what the article says should really not bother commenting.

Firstly, quoting a whole article will amount to infringement of copyright threfore I posted the link for you to read the whole article.

Yes its about sectarian violence in australia resulting from the current Iraq war in which Sunni/Al Qaeda mercilessly butchered eachother with Shiite and Kurds.

Yes. Just yesterday I witnessed a running gun battle between Shiite militia and Sunni guerillas in my street.

read the news article and you will see.

Some dude threatening to butcher Sunnis and Kurds has nothing to do with the war. Again, the two Sects have been at odds for ever. They were fighing in Lebanon in 1982 when the Israelis invaded, they have been bombing eachother in Iraq for decades. Oh but yes, this war is what started it all. Get your facts straight!
Apparently it have to do with Iraq war, read the callers own word from the same article
"Has the death of the president, the martyr, the living leader and hero who will never die, Saddam Hussein, a lesson for you? Do you want to savage the Sunnis, you dogs? I say to you, and repeat and reiterate, do not forget that one day we will take revenge, God willing, by liquidating the dog, Moqtada al-Sadr, who visited America and gave up Saddam."
Again, I did not said that Sunni/Shiite conflict begun with Iraq war. I knew that it is a century old conflict.

EXACTLY! I can say Johnny Howards name in a conversation about Middle Eastern geography. Does it mean that its about the Iraq war? Or that due to education funding I know fucking geography?
The caller expressed his intentions to kill shiite/kurds in australia to avenge the execution of Saddam Hussein and the killings of Sunnis in Iraq (exact reminiscent of what is currently happe ning in Iraq). Does that sound like a mere geography discussion to you?

I hope it's not the real alqaeda... If they bring out a box-cutter we're screwed!
I guess we're partly to blame though. The more Australia involves itself with the middle-eastern conflict, the higher the risk of Australia being the target of a terrorist attack becomes.
