look under kingdoms and classes for organisms...
off memory i think that
multi-cellular algae, although do not have leaves(they are leaf like structures) or true roots are commonly classsified as plants. they are photosynthetic

but unicellular algae are a tad weird and survive on something complicated(cant remember)

but mostly i think they are hptosynthetic

Although they photosynthesise, algae aren't truly plants - they are considered separately. They are usually on the surface of the water and block light from allowing other plantss to photosynthesise and animals to live. Blue-green algae choke the life by depriving it of oxygen. It may seem that they should produce more oxygen, but when a large population of algae have accumulated, aerobic processes of decomposition (decomposition bacteria boom and use up oxygen) and cellular respiration (which uses up oxygen) become increasingly significant.
