rudd is such an idiot
alp has no chance at the next election whoever is leader.
after beazley loses he'll have to step down and rudd can take the job then. rudd just going to look shit and everyone will blame him when labor lose an unwinnable election

Yeh he would step down... Just like all those other times he's failed at ALP leadership. But does he understand that he doesn't make a good leader? of course not.

lol, where's that leetom guy. We need someone in this thread who can mindlessly defend an idiot purely because that mindless idiot is an ALP leader.

The ALP needs to sought out their party and then prepare for the election after the one coming up, because at the moment they don't seem to stand a chance of winning.

Please someone start a classic liberal party. Both sides of Parliament are clowns these days.

I think Beazley is a smart guy, met him and have family friends who know him and would like it if he were prime minister. However, I realise that he hasn't got the pezzaz to win an election and having failed two times before, he shouldn't've ever taken leadership again. I like both Rudd and Gillard but if they become leader and deputy respectively their faces will be too unfamiliar to the public and they'll have no chance of getting marginal seats.

I find the ALP to be not left wing enough, while the Greens are a little too left wing, even for me, on some issues. I think what's key to note that even though the ALP won't get a bigger primary vote than before but issues such as the environment, industrial relations will get votes to Greens (who are always preferenced with ALP) and the ALP respectively. The Libs have already ruled out another tax cut and with several interest rate rises (which were necessary and didn't have much to do with the government, like most interest rate changes), they won't have much to shout about. Apparently the next election will be on Austrlian Values and 'the muslims' or something, which would be very sad indeed.

Though it saddens me, I think the coalition will remain in power regaurdless of who leads them to the next election. But it'd be better if Beazley kept going because otherwise, even if Rudd does a better job, people will realise the amount of in-fighting that's going on.

Oh dear. December '03 all over again.

The 7.30 Report's Michael Brissenden is predicting a Rudd win. (47 votes to Rudd, 41 to Beazley.) He is also predicting further movements to the Rudd camp over the weekend.

___

New style of leadership needed: Rudd
Labor must dump Beazley now, says Rudd
Who said what today

Albanese, Plibersek to back Beazley
This time it's for real
Premiers differ on Labor's top job
ALP needs decisive result on leadership question: political strategist
Labor should focus on policies: Downer
Kevin Rudd: Labor's quiet achiever

Labor owns all the states...I think.

The last time that had AC nielson polls, labor was ahead but everybody prefers someone other than Beazley.

Dragon, that's why Liberal always wins because they're much more organised. Take 2001 and 2004 especially.
Business has to pick up for Labor.

Yes, Labor do control all the state and territory governments.

The Labor Party is not, and never has been a socialist party. It is merely a Labour (not Labor) movement party, with liberal tendencies..

The fact is that the opinion polls will usually place the ALP ahead, and that the Coalition can win with a minority of the two party preferred vote. I have never valued opinion polls, and never will. After all, the last poll before the 2004 election indicated a fairly strong Labor victory; how wrong it was..

However, I do believe that the true indicator is not how each party is doing in the polls, but rather who is the preferred Prime Minister; Howard is testament to this, continually winning that indicator and the subsequent elections..
