For those that haven't seen it, you can see the video on foxnews.com
if you have some sort of moral objection to going to foxnews, I'm sure someone else can find a link.

In terms of content, I'd say it's about equal, but with presentation Cheney takes it.

I'm surprised cheney did so good, i believe because they were sitting at a desk.
I think the young gun trial lawyer got a bit of a shock.

I saw some of it on lateline so my judgement might not be so clear considering i didn't see the WHOLE thing. But from what I saw it was very close. Edwards really hammered in the Republican's deception in suggesting links between Al-Quaeda (sp) and Saddam Hussein. I thought that was quite well done and even Cheney had no retort to offer. I guess I can't really offer an opinion as to who won it since I havent seen it all (and yes, i DO have a moral objection to American Fox News :p), but from what I saw, they were both almost equally effective in bringing their points across. AS the SMH states, "the contest ended up pretty much in a draw, with Mr Cheney scoring better on national security while Senator Edwards bested him on kitchen-table talk."

SMH just lost the little cred. it actually had, I saw Dick Cheney absolutely thump Edwards a few times.

ie: When Edwards refused to count the Iraqi casualties with the coalition casualities, he basically demonstrated absolutely no respect to the Iraqi involvement in the war. which Cheny called him on.

The Democrats flip-flopping was dealt with a few times, including when they voted to go to war, then voted against the first militry aquisition bill so that Kerry could ride the antiwar sentiment and beat Howard Dean.

etc

Btw, if you listen to Edward's replies he often doesnt rebut most of what Cheney says, then again there isn't much he can rebut, like when he started spewing random, incorrect statistics. :uhhuh:

I think Cheney performed better than George W Bush and he is clearly a lot smarter. I'd say the debate was fairly neutral with Cheney perhaps taking the edge.

I think it was more of a tie; Cheney's polished performance is what Bush should have been like last week. But his statements were misleading. Both lied (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004...ain647719.shtml ) or "stretched the truth" rather, but if I had to choose I would say Edwards because he seemed to give clear answers to the questions, whereas Cheney diverted from the questions and constantly referred to records while clearly neglecting his own. Also, the references to the past don't prove anything.

yeah i saw that...what did cheney say?

"yada yada saddam yaada 9/11 yadada osama yadayada terorists yadayadayada weapons of mass destruction".

these people are BORING. weapons of mass turbation. garrrrrrr.

besides, john edwards is the second politician in the history of the world i can imagine myself actually having voluntary sex with, to paraphrase bridget jones. (the first was JFK. prince william doesn't count as a politician.) john kerry, nice guy though he is, looks like his face was on mt rushmore and then got put onto his head, as opposed to the other way around.

 Stop running around the politics forum posting inane stuff. If you don't get the point, don't attempt to reply to one. (This applies not only to this situation)

he's saying that the debate was fairly neutral.. which is what most people are saying, and he was voicing that cheney perhaps had an edge to him.

i cant believe you're still bitter about me owning you on facts

re: the debate, I gave it to Cheney on presentation - Edwards interrupting 4-5 times and that 'almost crying over Israeli children' thing, I thought that went a bit too far.

Cheney's sound quality was a bit muffled though, his mic was too low on his tie.

i'm not bitter, i just think you're opinions are preconceived

you were never going to say that Edwards won, even if he did.

oh yeah, just like I would never say Kerry won the 1st Presidental Debate

OH WAIT, I THINK HE DID
idiot.

if you would actually watch the debate instead of being hypocritical by assuming Edwards won, you'd understand why I thought Cheney won.

Oh, and you weren't the guy in the owning on facts thing. Which makes your random attack even more hypocritical.

BTW: If you'd like to discuss why you think Edwards won, go ahead.

How any of you can bother to read that entire lengthy transcript of propaganda is very unsettling.
