Hi I am a 2025 HSC graduate. I am interested in pursuing Medicine, but didn't do the UCAT. So I am looking for alternative pathways. Does anyone know about doing Clinical Science and then Gamsat, like how is the process is it like impossible. Or is it better to do Actuarial and UCAT next year. Are there people you may know that have gone through this pathway. Do you guys know any alternate pathways or degrees that can give you an pathway. I kinda want a bachelors that will give me security if I don't pass UCAT.
Sorry for the rant, I am so stressed. Congrats to Class of 2025 we finally did it :)

Hi I’m a university student at a university with a medicine degree and I know of people undertaking a bachelor of biomedical science completing their first year of study then doing the UCAT. They have been fairly successful in getting into medicine and have done quite well in the program.

My school’s careers advisor recommended not to do premed or med science or anything related because it will narrow down your options in the future. Basically anything else is recommended. You might need to do some research into some degrees and majors and see what their futures are. Biomedical science is a good option. So is medical radiation if you’re interested in physics.

I was researching options for a friend wanting to do PG med. Apparently Deakin's B Vision Science & M Optometry is a 3.5 yr accelerated program. If you apply for Deakin MD after the optometry course, there's supposed to be a 4% or 8% boost of your undergrad GPA (do fact check me on this).

Would you consider Bond Medicine at all? No UCAT required although the fee is a bit high.

Very common to do a bachelor of science (often majoring in med science) or something similar. Many just do a 'plain' b. sci and then get into medicine. Gives you a good degree (especially if you add postgrad onto it) relevant to med.
