Yes...shows knowledge and understanding, and if u're at a complete loss about what to write, can usually fill a good few pages relating token economic theory/policy etc to current state of affairs!

Not requiring u to memorise all the stats for the day of the exam, but know general trends and inflation, unemployment, gdp, interest rates...and maybe also %CAD of GDP.

it be useful but you dont need to fully know them jsut notice the increases and the decreases in the trends ..

but yeh it gains you higher marks by including them
