I'm planning on doing Arts at Usyd next year, but lately I've been having second thoughts about doing Arabic, which I've been planning for ages. Can anyone tell me what they thought of Arabic (considering that I'm a person who dropped out of the relentlessly grammar-and-rote-memorisation-based Year 11 French due to boredom)? Is the Usyd course in it, as alleged by the Unit of Study handbook, not based on formal grammar and so on? The course description implies that it's a wildly exciting and innovative program, but I was ever the cynic.
