It doesn't matter what subjects you do, you just HAVE TO DO WELL IN THEM.

You shouldn't be asking if your subjects are ok. Ask yourself if YOUR STUDY HABITS are OK. If your assignment technique is OK.

If you want a UAI in the 90s and you're not naturally a genius with a photographic memory, you'll have to work for it.

Yeah if you do well scaling wont hurt you.

I did Ext maths because i thought about scaling too much and although i did okay in it it didnt count and i wouldve been better doing another shittier scaling subject (i did sac and did heaps well) and just doing well.

there is no set formula for scaling... they work it out in the end... generally all extension subjects get scaled up as does mod hist. Maths usually does too.

But we're serious. you have to do well. thats it.

I know a person who's daughter did:

Dance
Visual Arts
Music 1
Advanced English
English Extension 1 & 2

No maths.

Besides the 4u English, the rest is rather arty farty, and stereotypically classed as "easy subjects".

She got 98.XX

i had friends who used did buso and when they put it into a uai prediction thing it was always scaled down... but it also depends on how ur school marks you etc. don't do subjects depending on their scaling... it wont make THAT big a difference. e.g. My friend did crappy scaling subjects and got 99.6 as her uai.

You don't need to be a genius to achieve a UAI of 90+, I'm not one: when I first tried SAM I got a UAI of 95.55 and I average only high eighties in my school (highly competitive private school). UAIs of 90+ are definitely not out of the question, but dependng on what school you go to, the very minimum raw marks you need would be mid 80s. Of course, the worse your school performs, the higher your raw marks will need to be.

Don't think about scaling: even if it's true, you should be choosing the subjects you love. Try and improve your marks as much as possible between now and your HSC (some people have moved up a whole band ), and you won't need to worry about anything.

If you're worried about your raw marks, seek advice on this board and your teachers and past HSC candidates. My advice: set yourself crazily high goals, but not so high that's impossible. When I finished SC, maths mark was 88. Now, in my first 2U and 3U Maths assessments (Year 12 now), I got 29/30. I kept on saying to myself, I'll top the grade, and get full marks, even if it's only maths. I thought it was crazy, that I was setting myself up for failure, but dreams can come true, and I'm only a mark away from it.

Good luck!
