That link clearly explains the structure of the degree and majors.
1st Year economics doesn't require that much maths. If you have a basic handling of 2u maths (abit of calculus, straight line algebra, can add and subtract
), you will be fine.
Starting 2nd year eco, the maths component takes a big leap. Intermediate micro (in my opinion) felt like 75% maths, 25% theory/intuition. Macro is less math-sey but the numbers game starts getting abit much for someone like me, who doesn't grasp numbers easily. It's not not do-able but uni economics is NOTHING like high school economics. The concepts sound familiar but you are expected to derive and analyse things and that, of course, has to involve maths.
From what I've experience, I have a feeling the maths component gets heavier as you go along, I guess.
If you intend to do honours then be prepared to take extra maths units as a requirement plus 3 units of econometrics as a minimum (Ecmt 1010, 1020 and Regression Modelling).
It's not like the maths components won't be taught (some are assumed) but just don't come into an economics major expecting HSC style economics.
