I would like to know why B Science is band 2 HECS, while B Medical Science is Band 3 HECS???

The only thing different is that in the first year, Med Sci people do a 3 UOC course of Perspective in Medical Science, and the rest of the subjects are pretty much similar.

No med sci is band 3 according to the HECS site.

019901 Medical Science 3

Don't get confused - its the subjects they are talking about. The subjects you do are classified into these categories, if you do gen eds for example, the chances are they'll be in band 1, even if you do med sci.

Then how can Med sci be categorised in Band 3 HECS when its subjects are in band 1/2??

Majority of subjects will be band 3, but it may contain band 1/2 subjects
