Want to get into the financial, investment field, however am unsure between doing a Bachelor of Business or Commerce. Which is the more credible degree?

Would an employer at an institution such as Macquarie, make a distinction of hiring two people between the two degrees?

Help appreciated
Cheers

i think if u do business its a braod course where you can choose from a list of majors and specialise (think of it like a general science course) and a commerce course is more focused on trading and actual business practise etc...

Yeah, I would do a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance, or just a straight Bachelor of Finance if any of the Sydney Universities run it:).

If you majored in Finance and Accounting, it makes no difference what degree u graduated in

Some Business degrees (such as Newcastle's) do not offer a major in Accounting:).

That's correct. BBus and BCom are essentially the same thing and in those fields it pretty much makes zero diff.

so you may do the same course right, but does that mean when your going for a job people regard a Bbus in the same fashion as Bcom?

Most people wanting to continue with Management and Business do an MBA at some stage. It is definitely the most popular Graduate Degree out there in that field:).

Your talking to the wrong person. I haven't looked into it enough. Maybe have a look at some University pages, or ring them? Or ask Minai, he seems to know everything:D.

well at newcastle, u can only do finance and acounting in a bachelor of commerce, whereas business is like marketing, hr, management, etc. also check out bachelor of finance and bachelor of economics. if u wanna specialise in finance, b finance is the go!

you basically cant get into an MBA as a graduate - its designed for experienced professionals wanting to upgrade their mgmt skills..you'll find most of the MBA programs require something like at least 5 years experience in the relevant field
