What is BCommerce and BCommence - Professional accounting like? What are the tutorials like.. like will they ask you alot of questions? because i'm always not good at answering questions in a group environment? Will there be more exams than assignments?

Also is it better to choose BCommerce with major in Accounting or should i do BCommence - Professional accounting ?
How many subjects will i need to study on the first year? Do i need to study actuarial studies?

Tutorials - depends on the unit/tutor, also depends on whether there are any marks for answering questions in class. Usually, there are no marks allocated to answering questions so you don't have to speak up.

Assignment/Exam - depends on the unit, but usually the final exam constitutes the majority of the assessment marks, there may be a small assignment in the beginning and a mid-semester test.

Difference between B Comm - Accounting and B Comm - Professional Accounting - the first degree lets you choose subjects so if you want to qualify for accreditation, you have to choose the correct subjects (you will get academic advice on this). The second is more structured in that the subjects are all part of your program so there is less fiddling around.

Depends on the unit, but there are generally quite a few group assignments. I think this is the case with most universities.

Hey Atlas so does that mean if one does B Commerce but with a double major, can they still qualify for CA/CPA accreditation?

If you pick the correct units - yes. The benefit of the B Comm Professional Accounting is that it has the units already laid out for you. But if you want to do the double major, just double check that you have all the CA/CPA required units when you get academic advice (you will get it when you first enrol).

So if i choose to study BCommerce Major in Accounting, it would be the same
as BComm Professional Accounting ? so they would tell you what subjects i
need to study to qualify for CPA?
Also BComm Professional Accounting means you don't need to choose
your subjects ?

When you enrol, you will receive academic advice - you just have to make sure you ask them what units you need to pick in order to qualify for the CPA and they should be able to give you the list of relevant subjects. So, yes, essentially you can build your B Commerce with major in Accounting to cover the same units as the Professional Accounting. Sorry, I should have given you the link to the units studied in each program earlier, here they are for B Commerce with major in Accounting and the B Commerce Professional Accounting.

As you can see the B Comm Professional Accounting has the required accounting etc units laid out and are compulsory so you won't be able to pick these. However, there are 11 credit points allocated for electives, and these you can pick.
