So I have my half yearly exams coming up & the English exam will mirror the Belonging paper in the HSC, with the short answer + creative writing piece. Anyway I've written a bit of my story & feedback from teachers have been brief;
- Too much telling in some parts.
- Details/descriptions not moving the plot along.
I kinda figured the details not moving the plot forward but I'm kinda struck in terms of ideas, the first paragraph I was to trying to emphasise her seclusion from her family & her isolation. One idea a one teacher suggested was that she hears of a sibling coming to Australia but ignores her - I would focus on her emotions & how it effects her obviously.The teachers also want us to work on creating a subtle story but I'm unsure of how to incorporate this into my story too.
So basically, I need help with ideas with plot - where I can go with story, how to incorporate subtly in the story, how to use description to move the plot along, how I can fix my paragraphs - second & third, how to conclude & any general tips.
I know its a lot to ask but I'm really struggling & we don't have any classes until the exam in one week since we have camp all of next week. Any help would be appreciated!
