It is difficult to present a detailed discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of biopolymers without refrence to specific examples. Otherwise you'll end up just stating the obvious biodegradability, renewable resource etc.

Chem Contexts include some of these.
You can then go on to say things like "Orica's Biopol is curently too expensive to be a viable replacement for petroleum based plastics..."
Be sure when making your notes to address all the possible questions implied in the syllabus
