It's 10:42 pm but I'll try to answer this as best as I can. Not opening a book... if I can remember it :S
Bronsted and Lowry theory is an extension of Arhennius' theory on acid donating hydrogen ion. Bronsted and Lowry proposed that acid is a substance which DONATES hydrogen and base is a substance which RECEIVES the hydrogen.
Adv:
- It is easy to determine which substance is acid or base
- Conjugate pairs can be determined
- Using the Bronsted and Lowry theory, the pH of the solution can be determine by determining the concentration of the hydrogen ion. (not sure about this one)
Disadv:
- It did not take into account the strength of the solvent on a specific acid (Acids strength may vary between solvents)
- It did not take into account that there are weak acids (citric, acetic) which does not have the tendency to dissociate as easily as the stronger acids (Sulphuric, hydrochloric)
The adv. and disadv. I made it up on the spot :S Sorry this is a very crap answer ... but yeah .... lol
