Buying newish computer (1 Viewer)

I'm thinking of buying a 18month computer off a friend. it is a Pentium 4 3.0 or 3.2 GHz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Video card is a Nvidia 6200 with PCI-e.
He is also throwing in a free desk and a cheap moniter for free.
All this for $350
What i'm asking is it it worth spending this or saving my money and buying a new computer?
I also have another friend offering to sell a Gforce 7600 for $50 (RRP $110)

The problem with 'Buying computer' threads is that people may list down all this information, but one thing they don't state is the purpose of it. What are you going to use this computer for? The quality of advice you get is directly proportional to how helpful your own post is.
