can someone please explain how and why different paterns form in striations(please dont just say its cause of different pressures inside the tube). thanks in advance!

Well its basically because of changing pressure which causes the different striations. But also remember in low pressure atoms(usually Argon) are easily ionised in the tubes. Striations are due to the lack of constant ionisation of gas particles causing different glows with decreasing pressure. Electrons from ionisation of Argon are not in an orderly pattern causin the anode glow and other dark spaces.
