Hey all,
I am aware that especially in this day and age, maths goes a long way (IT, finance etc.). But how well does it do purely on its own ? Whenever people list the career options in maths, they always seem to have to be combined with another domain like physics, chemistry, computer science etc. But what if you aren't particuarly interested in those things, what if you just want to do math (pure and applied) ? I don't know to what extent it is possible to do only math, but on its own, can it really offer any career opportunities apart from teaching and researching ? Not saying I don't like sciences btw, its just I like math a lot more, yet I don't want to sabotage my life doing math at uni for no economical reasons.
