Certificate IV / Diplomia of Professional writing and editing/ Short story course (1 Viewer)

I was just wondering if anyone here has done (or is currently in the process of doing) a Diploma or Certificate IV in Professional writing and editing or a short story course. Wodonga TAFE offers a short story course completly online, but I'm none too sure how that would help me get into my degree of choice (a degree which would involve creative writing, alongside film and Asian studies) Has anyone else here done this type of course? Thanks.

I'll just break down your questions in point form:

• First, basically any Diploma's marks can contribute to your entry score at uni, regardless of whether it is in an entirely different subject or not. They take your GPA(your average marks) from the Diploma and transform it into a score much like the UAI/TER. This mark is then averaged with your UAI/TER and this average(often known as your NRSL rank) is what is used for university entrance.
• Secondly, the relationship between your TAFE subjects and university subjects don't influence entry - rather they determine how much credit(also known as Advanced Standing or RPL) you gain toward you university degree. Unfortunately, TAFE writing courses don't have any credit arrangements with unis(for a list of subjects that do give credit, click here.) unless your university has a specific arrangement with the local TAFE campus.
• Also, rather unfortunately, TAFE does not have many writing courses and most of these are not at the Diploma level. However I have linked to those that I could find here:

I personally don't think TAFE is the best pathway into an Arts degree, particular an english and writing based one. You'd probably be better off looking for an alternative way in. TAFE would still get you there in the end though.
