Gold is found in sea water in very low concentrations ( 6 x 10^-10 % by mass)

Given that the density of sea water is about 1010 kg/m^3, calculate the mass of gold that could theroretically be extracted from 10km ^ 3 of sea water.

I'm rather confused, but do i need to apply the density forumla for this question?

% w/w means for every 1 kg of sea water, you'd find 6 E -10 x 0.01 kg of gold...

so you are given 10km3 of sea water, which is 10 x 10003 m3 of water

and you know the density, which is 1010kg/m3

which means mass of sea water given is 1010 x 10 x 10003kg

and by the percentage of gold which is 6E-10 percent, you will ahve

1010 x 10 x 10003 x 6E-10 x 0.01 = 60.6kg
