Civil Engineering or Computer Science UNSW (1 Viewer)

Hey,
I’m in the process of selecting my uni preferences and I’ve decided between either civil engineering or computer science/commerce at UNSW. I got an ATAR of 96.2 so I should be able to make both courses. Can I have any insights on job prospects/future careers/salary/uni workload for both these courses? It would be especially appreciated if you currently study the course as well. Thank you

Well, I’m neither a student nor a graduate of either of these courses but my eldest’s BF is a first year graduate civil engineer and tells me that two thirds of his friends from his Uni group have found permanent full time jobs with starting salaries in the low 60K per annum range. The rest of his group have temporary contracts related to the construction industry. He emphasises that his group were all conscientious students with high GPAs so he can’t speak for others in his cohort who may not have performed as well at Uni.
