High-pressure water hose, definitely! ;)

Seriously though, I'd say the same things you use for any other monitor, a tissue, a soft cloth, damp (but not too wet) if required. You can also use LIGHT glass cleaning products if it's a particularly filthy screen, but make sure it's nothing too harsh if you do go that way.

you should NEVER EVER use any glass cleaning chemicals on a lcd, let alone a CRT monitor
the chemicals will eat away some very important protective coatings

the way to clean LCDs is by using lint free cloth and water
by water it isn't a lot, not a dripping damp cloth....more like you just sneezed on it kinda wettness
if it is really really dirty use small amount of metholated spirits SMALL mixed will water

Perhaps I didn't emphasis the GENTLE glass cleaning bit enough :) Only a very small amount is required, and if that is still too harsh I often water it down before using it. I've just found that when I use plain water the monitor will often end up with streaks, whereas this is not the case when using a specific glass cleaner. Anything with ammonia in it is of course also something to steer clear of. Also, DO NOT spray it directly onto the screen, instead apply it to a soft cloth and use it that way.

I've been doing this for many years and have never removed the anti-glare coatings (or any other coatings) from any of the monitors I have owned, although perhaps if one was too heavy handed this could be a possibility.

(Also, the water here where I am probably has more nasty chemicals in it than the glass cleaner anyway, but I guess that's a regional issue) :)

i would still advice against any use of chemicals no matter how lightly you use it

the reason why there are streaks left is because you used too much water, cloft too damp! it requires very little water to clean a monitor...
unless you have people that like touching the screen with dirty fingers, in that case i would take a butcher knife instead....prevention is better than a cure
