*rant* someone not mentioning any names :p

was saying how medicine is just about clinical.. \
THIS REALLY annoys me..
because I dun think enough incoming med students get that Medicine is awesome because personally there is sooo much opportunities!

to specialise and to do research.. Im serious.. lots of med students would/could get into Adv Sci courses... primarily they lay the foundations for a good research career.. and the Medicine course is a 2-3 yr of Medical Sciences and then 3yrs Clinical.. (yr 12 leavers/non grad entry) ..

who else thinks tat Medicine students should just stick with clinical? ... this is especially true of wannabe meddies.. wat do u say in an interview if asked?
do u even know wat a medical course is about?

I gess if i was asked in an interview id say that medicine isn't just clinical and that the emphasis is more on prevention these days and with out reasearch thered be no vaccines or no information on the causes of diseases and ways or drugs to prevent them.

i really don't no that much about the corses

obviously we can learn by experience but then we wouldn't understand the biochemical and physiological basis of disease which might make treatment hard...i think the current system is good as it is...

Because the units that made up a credible (ie complete) BSc (Med) course were partially replaced by more clinical education (ie patient interaction etc) time...thus in order to complete a COMPLETE and CREDIBLE BSc (Med) students really need to take the extra year.
