Hi can someone please help me, what does the clown symbolise in the scene in the car with elton.

I assume you're talking about the clown in the scene when Elton is hitting on Cher. The clown is kind of laughing at Cher's stupidity (she's calling Elton a snob, when she herself is snobbing him). It adds to the whole mood of the scene, and it kind of makes Cher look really stupid (i.e. inanimate objects are even laughing at her).
