Could someone please explain to me about the Commerce/Law degree.

I read all the info and i still cnat work out if you do a Commerce degree or say something like Commerce-Marketing etc with the Law degree.

Which is correct or are they both the same!

Its only because u need to quote diff. UAC no. that i can see a slight diff.

they're not the same - the subjects are fairly different. i started with commerce-law then decided i wasn't a fan of all the economics and switched to commerce-marketing-law.commerce-law is more focussed on economics etc - so at the end of it you'd get a straight commerce degree (like anyone else doing straight commerce i'd expect they'd want u to pick something to specialise for that, though i'm not exactly sure how that all works i think as u go ahead with the degree u get all these mandatory subjects at first and as u go along u get to pick electives and eventually pick what u want to focus on/specialise in) as well as a commerce-law combined degree. with commerce-marketing-law u've got a lot of the same subjects at first but as you go along u have more mandatory subjects related to marketing. don't worry too much about it - the subjects are so similiar initially its not at all hard to switch between them if u change u're mind early on.

Well afaik, the commerce part are essentially the same.

Its just that commerce-marketing has a ring to it maybe? For just commerce, you can choose the units you do, without having to actually be forced to do units. So you can follow the marketing path if you want, but you just wont have the marketing name in your degree, thats all i think?
Though there maybe some units which require you to be in the commerce-marketing degree, so plz, other ppl, correct me if me wrong

For Bachelor of Commerce - Marketing, you have a relatively strict program. There are heaps of units you 'must' do.

For Bachelor of Commerce, you have a less strict program in your first two years, however you still need to do a heap of units (generally, 4 at 300 level) in a particular area (but this is still much less than with Commerce - Marketing).

So it isn't just a nice sounding degree with the same units as a more general Commerce degree.

(The same basically applies for other specific Commerce degees.)

What would you recommend?

I currently attend UTS doing a B Bus but would like to change to MQ.

The program i do would be dpendent on credit i would receive for previous units.

I dont expect anyone to waste their time attempting to analyse it but on face value wat would be the best option; your recommendation?

If you're still in first year and you want to go into Commerce - Marketing / Law, then it's probably still possible, because 'extra' units can be used as 'elective' units. However if you're in second year or third year, I'd think twice. Just depends how many subjects you can get them to say are equivalent to Macquarie ones.

Would you think i should email them and ask them if my units would be given equivalent status or would they have it on the site or something.

I have read the Commerce-mKTG/Law degree but cant find the straight Com/Law degree units of study. Thats a bit of a let down coz ive been on the site many times and looked.

You should find out which units would be considered equivalents (and what units you would have to do, and whether its worthwhile transferring.)

Yeah ill email them tomorrow. Usually in a formal situation they shouldnt tell me the info but hoping they may just as a guide.
